About

I was born in Leeds, England in 1982. I have always had a fascination with all things creative, but having no natural aptitude for painting, singing or playing musical instruments and having the blessing of shyness, it took me a while to find my calling.

Acting brought me out of my shyness shell and I appeared in a few High School productions playing a wide variety of roles including, a southern preacher, a cowboy, one of Macbeth’s witches and a court jester in the black comedy “Off The Wall”. I loved the buzz of facing my fear and found playing other people on stage helped freeing me to express myself. Yet it was poetry where my heart settled.

I was always fascinated with rhyme, how words looked and sounded; their rhythms and movements. When I was 16 years old, after writing a piece on a deserted beach in an English examination, I realised I too could make words dance. I have been writing poetry ever since and had several poems published in magazines and literary journals both locally and world wide. I have independently published several books of poetry including “Bones and Broken Hearts” in 2011 “Seasons of Distraction” in 2012, “Lights From The Lowlands” in 2014 and Other Silent Days in 2016. 2017 marked the tenth year since I published my first book of poetry, and I celebrated with a special book of Selected Poems, Drawing Outside of The Lines: Poems 2007-2017. These books are currently out of print, but I plan to reissue them in the near future.

In 2018 I moved to Seattle in the United States of America, where I live today with my wife, Artist, Heather Mellor. Since moving to the United States I have published three books, The Dark Places of Lost Things (2019), The Unaccompanied (2019) and Blue In Green (2020).  All three of these books are available for purchase via Amazon. You can access them via the Store tab.
